Does putting cold tea or tea leaves on rose or camellia bushes help them grow?

I've heard of people doing it, but does it help the plants to grow?

The tanins in tea help roses grow. Also try coffee grounds. They provide a good source of tanins and mulch.

Best of luck.
Reply:tea might minimally acidify the soil.. if you have very high pH soil, it could help the roses acquire nutrients.

It's not a fertilizer, though.
Reply:Because camellias are acid lovers they don't like tap water (it contains too much lime).

If you don't have rainwater available a tea bag to infused in tap water for 6 hours will neutralise the lime. Looking at it from this angle - yes cold tea/leaves will help your camellia to grow. However, both plants will benefit more from a weekly feed during the growing season. Make sure you use rose feed for your roses %26amp; ericaceous feed for your camellia.x
Reply:Not really. You're probably better putting them in the compost and then use that to put around your camellias and roses.
